ترصد هذه الدراسة الأسباب السياسية الخفية التي أوضحها نص بلوتارخوس عن أسباب قمع السلطة الرومانية لعبادة باکخوس . وکيف استند إلى الأعراف والتقاليد الرومانية لتقديس مکانة الأب في المجتمع الروماني ، وتجاوزات شرائعها وطقوسها للوضع الاجتماعي الروماني؛ لأنها أصبحت مصدر خطر على المجتمع والجيش الروماني وعلى کيان الجمهورية الرومانية نفسها . مما جعل السيناتو يقرر القضاء عليها .
